26 July 2008: Improved Kitchen Hood Vent

With my new and improved exhaust vent our kitchen stove hood sucks the same on its lowest setting as it did previously on its highest setting.  The previous sentence is probably not true.

Here's the old vent with an exhaust area of about 25 square inches.

 

And here's the new vent, 10-inch diameter, with an exhaust area of about 80 square inches.

 

To keep small animals out of the vent I installed a screen.  This photo shows how I bolted it to the elbow.

 

Completed vent spray painted primer black, but still drying.
