Emigrant Wilderness, July 2000

Map

New Map!  As of August 2006 I have created a new map showing the loop.  It's a 1376 KB color pdf, best printed on 11x17 paper.  I scanned it at 300x300 resolution so you should get good results if you print it.  Click here to see it.  Don't bother with the link to the map above, it sucks.

I apologize in advance for the map below.  Not only is it super wide (I HATE! scrolling to the right) but our trip was also on two sides of the map, so you must look at a spliced image.  Oh well.  At least I'm making the text boxes a reasonable width.

At the far left of the upper map you see our starting point, Crabtree Camp.  Shit!  I cut off the trail heading south from Crabtree.  Anyway,  from there we headed south then east past Camp Lake, Piute Meadow, Piute Lake, Gem Lake and then camped on a bluff just downstream of Jewelry Lake.  On day 2 we continued north of Buck Lakes then went around Emigrant Lake, headed south then camped near Maxwell Lake.  On day 3 we started heading east and came to the northern tip of Huckleberry Lake then continued east past Lertora Lake, Cow Meadow Lake, and Wood Lake.  We detoured in and out to Karls Lake then followed Meadow Creek, camping when Cherry Creek crossed the trail.  On day 4 we continued along until we reached Piute Creek, which we followed north to Piute Meadow and trail already trodden.  It was then a short hike back past Camp Lake to the trailhead.
